Don’t let what you can’t do get in the way of what you can.

What is SpringBoard?
A six-week programme, 90 minutes a week. Springboard is designed to give you the latest information on how to bring quality and well-being back into your life by taking simple steps, consistently. It’s clinically shown to help people with chronic or persistent pain to restore quality of life and may even reduce some symptoms. Lots of research evidence exists to support our confidence in this approach to your pain.

Who is it for?
SpringBoard is a small group programme. Everyone attending the programme has pain that has gone
beyond what’s expected. Everyone has found their pain is posing a problem for them. The exact
diagnosis may vary, and people may have had their pain for different periods of time.

What about medical aspects of my pain management?
Medications and procedures may be an important part of your pain management. You’re welcome to use them while you’re attending SpringBoard. Please discuss “as-needed” pain relief with the facilitator and/or your healthcare team. If you have planned investigations or surgery, it’s not the right time for SpringBoard.

What you need to commit to doing.
1. Commit to attending every session
2. Complete the worksheets
3. Schedule your home learning
4. Discuss the information covered in sessions with your family and important support people

Who will lead the programme?
Senior clinicians lead this programme. They may be from occupational therapy, physiotherapy, psychology, nursing or social work backgrounds.

What can I expect?
Each session will cover two main topics about living well with pain. The team member leading the session will talk through the main points, then help you work out how you can use this in your own situation. In between each week, you will be taking small steps towards doing things that are important to you.

For this programme to be effective, you need to make a commitment to making the time and effort to learn and practice skills and work toward these activities.
What we will do for you.
1. Communicate with you and your family doctor
2. Explain the reasons for any activity, including home-based learning
3. Start and finish sessions on time
4. Help you work out how to use the skills and strategies in your life
5. Review your progress at the beginning of each session

When is it?
Groups are online. You will be sent a link to connect with your group at the same time each week. Each session runs for 1.5 hours. We start on time, and finish on time. The programme runs for six weeks.
