Bachelor of Exercise Sport Science
Originally from Palmerston North and graduated at UCOL with a Bachelor of Exercise Sports Science Degree 2013. I moved straight into employment and started my career at Rehab Physio Centre in Palmerston North as a Exercise Physiologist prescribing rehabilitation programmes for clients recovering from an injury. Me and my whanau decided to make a move to Hamilton in 2016 where I started my journey at ACC as a Case Manager where I provided services for people with complex injuries to achieve the best possible outcome and safe return to work or independence.
During my 5 years at ACC I was able to build a good knowledge base around the ACC legislation, Entitlements and Vocational Rehabilitation which helped me move into a National Operations Manager role at Tu Tonu Physio where I was in charge of running the Vocational Rehabilitation Services Contract. As the National Operations Manager I had to monitor and review employee workplace injury claims, rehabilitation plans, making recommendations and intervening where appropriate to ensure clients return quickly and safely to the workplace.
This role definitely challenged me to step outside my comfort zone knowing the key responsibilities for this role was to achieve service outcomes for the client returning to work. Working within a lean model encouraged me to look outside the box to support staff through understanding the bigger picture and contributing through being a voice that matters. I am also a mad rugby and rugby league fan and my teams that i support are the Hurricanes & Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs!
